Efficiency, Comfort, and Inspiration: A Futuristic Office Model by YuQiang and Partners

Creating a High-Tech Workspace for a Global Smart Terminal Company

The office of a global smart terminal and mobile Internet company should embody efficiency, comfort, and inspiration. This was the design concept embraced by YuQiang and Partners when tasked with creating a futuristic office model for the CEO of this high-tech enterprise. Located in the China Resources Tower in the CBD of Shenzhen Bay, this office space sets a new standard for modernity and technology.

YuQiang and Partners approached the design with a focus on flexibility and functionality. By combining tone with lighting, they created a space that exudes a sense of modernity and technology, perfectly aligned with the brand's identity. The storage cabinets hidden in the walls not only maintain a clean and minimalist appearance but also enhance the office's functionality.

One of the unique features of this design is the application of Chinese garden design techniques. By extending the French windows sideways, the designers optimized the viewing experience and brought the beauty of the outdoors into the office space. This technique, known as borrowed scenery and enframed scenery, adds a touch of tranquility and serenity to the workspace.

The realization of this design involved the use of innovative materials and technologies. The office walls are made of Fenix NTM, a sustainable material manufactured by Arpa Industriale. The core of Fenix NTM is made of lignin, a renewable resource, making it an environmentally friendly choice. This material offers visual comfort with low light reflectivity, a soft touch, anti-fingerprint properties, and thermal healing of superficial micro scratches.

Technical specifications were carefully considered in the design process. The 094 System of the ceiling edge created a delicate connection between the wall and ceiling, enhancing the overall aesthetic. The Aituoipiedi Ground Power System, a modular and flexible solution, integrated cable storage and lighting functions seamlessly. The water bar, also made of Fenix NTM, was cleverly hidden behind the wall, providing both visual comfort and additional storage space.

The design team faced several challenges during the project, including a tight timeline of just 25 days. Customized products, such as Class A fire doors and ceiling components, had to be sourced overseas, adding complexity to the process. Despite the constraints, the team successfully combined minimalism with multi-functionality, making the most of the limited space. By hiding different units behind the walls, they created a unified and cohesive environment.

The office space designed by YuQiang and Partners offers a harmonious blend of efficiency, comfort, and inspiration. The reception area sets the tone with its richness and softness, providing a relaxing atmosphere within a rigorous and serious space. Tranquil diffused lights in the resting area allow for a moment of rejuvenation, providing a much-needed break from the demands of a high-pressure work environment.

This project, which started in March 2019 and was completed in July 2019, showcases the innovative and forward-thinking approach of YuQiang and Partners. By integrating outdoor scenery and balancing color contrasts, they have created a familiar yet novel space that caters to the individual needs of the client. The result is a visually stunning and highly functional office that sets a new standard for high-tech workspaces.

This design by YuQiang and Partners has been recognized for its excellence and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate resourcefulness, technical skill, and a commitment to improving quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
